Leave room around important details
Extend your background all the way to the edge. Keep text, logos and important artwork inside the dashed line in the editor and print preview. Details in the shaded edge area may be trimmed or covered by stitching.
Use a sharp, full-size image
For example, for a 90 × 40 cm mat, aim for 3600 × 1600 pixels or more after cropping. For extra clarity at this size, 6000 × 2666 pixels is ideal. Use your full-resolution image and check the resolution message after adjusting the crop.
Make contrast and lines clear
Dark details on dark backgrounds and light details on light backgrounds can disappear in print. Choose strong contrast and keep lines thick enough to see clearly.
Allow for a little color difference
Colors can look slightly less vibrant in print than on your screen. A small vibrancy increase is optional. Need a second opinion before ordering? Email your design to hello@deskmat.io.

Which image should I use?
Use a sharp original photo or artwork you have the right to print. The editor accepts JPEG, PNG and WebP files up to 40 MB. Convert HEIC photos to JPEG first. Aim for 40 pixels per centimeter of mat size: for example, 3600 × 1600 pixels for a 90 × 40 cm mat. The editor warns when your crop is below that recommendation.
How does the crop work?
The selection keeps your mat’s proportions. Move or resize it, then check the preview: that is the area sent for printing. Keep important details away from the very edges, where stitching can cover them.
